Mar Menor
The self catering accommodation on this site is at the RiberaBeach Apartments which are situated in Mar de Cristal on the Mar Menor, a large inland sea. This is Europes largest saltwater lagoon. This non-tidal sea makes swimming very safe for chidren, with the water temperature considerably warmer than the Mediterranean Sea.
Mar de Cristal
Is situated in the Province of Murcia. It is postioned (refer to the picture below) in the most southerly point of the Mar Menor, and boasts one of the most moderate climates in Spain. You can check out the location on a local map of Spain by entering the post code 30384. Using 'zoom in' facility gives you a perspective of the resorts location in relation to the beach.
This area of Spain has more days of sunshine than other mainland areas and water temperature higher than average. This area is known as the Costa Calida - the "Warm Coast", but is often also classified as Costa Blanca which is slightly further north.
A strip of land approx. 22 kms long (La Manga strip) separates the Mar Menor (Minor Sea) from the Mediterranean Sea (Mar Mayor). Visitors to this area therfore have the enviable choice of swimming environments right on their doorstep. A wide range of watersports is offered all along the coast.
The world famous La Manga Club is located at the foot of the mountain range close to Mar de Cristal, and just a 5-10 minutes drive away. La Manga Club and the surrounding areas off a huge selection of activities.
